Presentation of diplomas to Spanish listeners of summer language school "Letras 2017"
The idea of creating a summer language school at the Odessa National Polytechnic University for Basque philologists was born literally when the professor of the Department of Classical and Basque Languages of the Faculty of Humanities (FACULTAD DE LETRAS) of the University of the Basque Country, Nerea Madaryaga, began her internship at the Department of Ukrainian and Russian of the Institute for the Training of Foreign Citizens director A.A. Saveliev).
I must say, it was very bold on her part - to come to Ukraine in 2015, and even with a three-year-old daughter, Maechka. But this time Nerea did not disappoint her intuition either. Seeing in her presentations the great interest of Odessa polytechnics in the study of the Spanish language and culture, she participates in the work of the International Conference "Information Technologies in Professional and Technical Technology XXI Century", lectures on the history of Spanish culture, offers a short-term Spanish course for students of the Ukrainian-Spanish Institute, then - the center (director - professor SS Gutyr), which is now traditionally held on the basis of the student sports and recreational complex "Chaik" "As a summer school of the Odessa National Polytechnic University" Spanish for professionals. "
Not all believed then that the Spaniards would come to Odessa. But when after the presentation of Ukraine teachers of polytechnic at the University of the Basque Country asked specific questions from students: "How much does a ticket cost from Odessa to Kiev?" And "Can I come in January?", It became clear that the project "Letras 2017" will take place.
And here are the first eight pioneers in Odessa. Even at the airport, at the bus station they are interested in one thing - when classes begin. It is not surprising that during the three weeks of the school's work, none of them not only missed classes, but was not late.
They still do not know what kind of surprise they will have: they will work on the specially specially written textbook "Invitation to Odessa" (authors TG Kolikov, N. Madaryaga, OK Romanov), reflecting the diversity of the cultural program of stay, drawn up by the project coordinators.
Thanks to the professional work of the teacher TG Kolikova, all students noted the highest methodological level of our Ukrainian school and expressed their desire to come to the next year for a longer period.
I confess, they subdued us with their purposefulness, organization, ability to rationally use every minute and hryvnia, absolute independence in everything.
To their twenty with a little everyone in the luggage has 4-5 foreign languages. Where they just did not pass the speech practice of the studied language: in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Karelia and Siberia, Riga and Vilnius, Tbilisi and Tiraspol. Probably from here their readiness for any life situation. And, of course, a strong Basque character. They did not seem to know the word "no".
The history of love for our language is different for everyone. Kiara, an Italian student at the University of Bologna, studying Spanish at the University of the Basque Country, shook the film "Anastasia". Asier, learning Finnish in Finland, got to neighboring Karelia and was amazed by the beauty of the nature of this region, and then, taking a great interest in ecotourism, he went to Transnistria. Mary at the age of 13 has sunk into the soul ... our alphabet. And Ander, having finished his year at Moscow State University and got acquainted with the history and modernity of the culture of the studied language, realized that in the first year he made the right choice. He created a colloquial club at the university, bringing together many interested people, and now associates his future with teaching. Lorea, while preparing herself for international activities, is surprised why her native Slavic languages have not yet received wide circulation. A graduate student Asier, being a second-year student, in 2013, was studying English at the University of Sheffield. And it must be the case that there, in England, a professor from Odessa Lyudmila Nedelkova opened to him the world of the Odessa language!
I will not hide it, we really wanted the Basques to love our city. And this love was at first sight. Odessa with its atmosphere of ease, openness and goodwill was very reminiscent of all of Barcelona. They saw and learned so much that not everyone in Odessa managed to do: they visited the Opera House, the theater "On the Tea"; VIII Odessa International Film Festival, visited the Museum of Chocolate, Art and Literature, closely acquainted with the history and religion of the city, made friends with students of the Ukrainian-Spanish Institute, relaxed on beaches and discos.
And the city fell in love with our guests. On three local TV channels showed their participation in the literary flash mob "Odessa reads. Odessa is read. " The golden hall of the Literary Museum spun in the waltz of the Russian composer, brilliantly performed on the piano of charming Nerea, the future translator of the Basque and Spanish languages. Kostya the sailor and the Fisherman Sonia in the Garden of sculptures were clearly pleased with our performance of the song "Shaland, full of mullets ...". And Shevchenko Park and central streets of Odessa will long remember the band of young people happily singing Spanish songs in pure Spanish.
We were really interested (and this is the main thing!), Whether it was a professional discussion on the teaching of foreign languages or a dispute about equality, the fate of animals in captivity or symbols of love - rusty barn locks on the installation of the "In Love Heart".
Therefore, at the farewell reception at the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor VS Shobik was very solemn and a little sad: after all, all during this time became one team. We thanked colleagues - teachers of the section of the Slavic languages of the University of the Basque Country and students for their excellent work. Thank you coordinator Nerea Madaryaga for the fact that she was always with us.
Goodbye, Letras 2017.
